As part of Tourism Month celebrations, South African Tourism, is giving South African tourism products and services in the Eastern Cape, a lucrative platform and opportunity to grow their businesses.  The organisation will be hosting a speed marketing session in partnership with Eastern Cape Park and Tourism Agency, today the 19th of September in Port Elizabeth where tourism business owners will introduce their products and services to an audience made up of influential hosted buyers (those who put together packages made up various tourism experiences and offers and sell South Africa).

The main aim of the Speed Marketing sessions is to expose lesser-known products, such as accommodation establishments, and key activities and/or attractions in each province to a group of buyers that can include them in the itineraries and packages they design as they sell South Africa both in South Africa and in different markets across the world.

During the Eastern Cape speed marketing session more than 40 tourism product owners and business will each get five minutes to tell the buyers about their unique selling points. Following the presentation, the buyers will be able to ask questions before moving on to the next presenter.

“South Africa is a country that boasts an array of unique and authentic experiences and services with great value for money. This is a showcase of a collection of unforgettable experiences that make South Africa the award-wining, world-class tourism destination it is,” says Chief Quality Assurance Officer, at South African Tourism Darryl Erasmus.

Tourism month is a celebration of South Africa’s rich and varied tourism offerings that seek to encourage South Africans to explore and discover their own country. The speed marketing sessions are a showcase of a collection of unforgettable experiences that make South Africa the award-winning world-class tourism destination it is.

Started in 2009, the Speed Marketing Sessions are part of the many initiatives and platforms that  South African Tourism offers an array of products to sell their products and services. The most recently introduced initiative being Travel Fridays where products and services in the sector are offered engagement opportunities with the South African domestic tourism, international leisure, business events and brand experience teams.  These engagements foster improved relationships with our product owners and assist in keeping SA Tourism personnel up to date on all product supply developments.

“Tourism makes an enormous contribution to the provincial and national economic growth of our communities. This is why awareness created by initiatives such as speed marketing is pivotal in giving the various products and services the exposure they need. Collectively, our active participation can result in a transformed, inclusive and flourishing industry,” concludes Erasmus.
