Thousands of flamingo chicks have been left abandoned after water levels dropped at Kamfers Dam in Kimberley, South Africa and they need our help!

With the help of volunteers, non-profit Saam Staan, Kimberley SPCA, Department of Environmental Affairs and Ekapa the chicks have been rescued and transported to Kimberley SPCA where they are kept, monitored closely and fed until it is time for them to be taken to a place of safety where they will be raised and rehabilitated.

Kimberley SPCA still needs help in taking care of and feeding the chicks.

Kindhearted people from all over South Africa and the world have immediately stepped in, volunteering to rescue these endangered baby birds.

It is such an amazing feeling to watch people come together to save lives.

Hundreds of the chicks have so far been relocated to Ushaka Marine World in Durban and rehabilitation centres in Tableview and Hout Bay, Cape Town where veterinarians can give the attention needed.
Watch the heartwarming video of volunteers helping the chicks taken by the talented Die Swart Kat Productions.
