South Africans celebrate Heritage Day in the best ways!

South Africa Heritage Day is celebrated annually on 24 September. On this day, South Africans are encouraged to celebrate the rich diversity of our cultures, beliefs, history and traditions found nowhere else like right here in Mzansi!

Diversity is a source of strength because strength lies in differences, not in similarities. Like the saying: “Diversity is not a characteristic of life; it is a condition necessary for life…like air and water.”

Heritage Day in South Africa is also a commemoration that reminds us to continuously learn more about each other’s cultural backgrounds and to take pride in our collective heritage as a nation.

Here are some amazing ways how South Africans are celebrating Heritage Day!

Pilatus Centre Southern Africa shared this photo by aviation photographer Justin de Reuck of the Silver Falcons flying over Cape Town, South Africa.

The learners at Buccleuch Montessori celebrated their South African heritage with a colorful, fun and exciting day!

Miss Earth South Africa finalist, Refiloe Fifi shared this beautiful message: “I love this picture because it perfectly depicts the beauty of heritage day. Teaching our youth the importance of celebrating culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions. Instilling the knowledge that South Africa belongs to ALL it’s people.   Happy Heritage day from myself and these little cuties”
